高湛,广东省广宁县人,1947年参加西江部队,1948年6月随冯光司令、周明政委率领飞雷队挺进到阳山,后在猛虎队任三班长。1948年11月24日猛虎队打下寨岗国民党乡公所后,转移到老虎冲、中心岗瑶汉地区活动,引来大批敌人围攻。12月10日晚上,部队从塘梨坑瑶排大山出发,到达汉区鱼冲村时已天亮,
