追溯激光自混合干涉效应的起源,可以归属为激光器外部光反馈效应.由于光反馈作用的结果可严重地影响激光器的输出特性,所以在激光应用系统中,光反馈对系统的影响一直是备受关注的问题.起初,人们总是试图消除光反馈的不利影响,因此研究者特别关注光反馈引起的光噪声、谱线展宽和相干猝灭现象等方面的研究,这些效应将带给激光系统致命性破坏.随着光反馈效应研究的深入,逐渐出现利用该效应对各种物理量进行测量的研究.
