每年的秋天,苏联捕鲸舰队开往南极捕鲸鱼。海产大学校及国立海洋专门学校科学调查团随舰往南极考察已有四次了。任务是调查捕鲸业,研究鲸鱼,改进制鲸技术,调查南极气候。他们在光荣号船上,已工作了七个多月,航行了约八万公里。这是相当於赤道两倍的距离。途中很辛苦,在南极每隔一天,平均(风舌)暴风一次。在纬线40度至50度之间,要遇到两次最大的暴风雨。水手们称之为过“鬼吼关”。虽然气候如此恶劣,可是光荣号捕鲸队总是带着数千吨名贵的鲸鱼油及其他食品,胜利的回到祖国。
Every autumn, the Soviet whaling fleet heads for Antarctic whales. The scientific survey mission of the Marine University and the National Maritime College has been carried out on an expedition to the Antarctic for four times. The mission is to investigate the whaling industry, study whales, improve whaling techniques, and investigate the Antarctic climate.
