Israel: Since the discovery of antibiotics, physicians have faced a dilemma: treating individual limbs or organs, they also have to be administered systemically, but larger doses often cause unpleasant side effects. At present, researchers at Tel Aviv University in Israel have isolated an antibiotic that adheres directly to body tissues and relieves the need to deliver drugs through the bloodstream. The new antibiotic, called TA, was discovered by Eugene Rosenberg et al. When they injected the antibiotic into experimental animals, they found that the new compound adhered directly to the body’s stabbing end, where the drug first came into contact with the animal’s tissues.
