采用木炭做燃料,每产一吨粗銅(原矿品位5％左右)要用40多吨木炭,相当于砍伐460立方木炭。为了早出銅,多出銅,支援国家建设,許多森林已大量砍伐,造成損失。要避免(或減少)这种損失,利用儲量丰富,分布面广的白煤煉銅不但燃料費用可以此用焦炭降低60—70％,更主要的是能解决冶金工业遍地开花,快速发展的燃料供应問题,又保护了森林,因此不但具有經济意义,还具有政治意义。我們試驗白煤煉銅,煉出粗銅兩百多公斤,質量尚好,而且燃料只为一股的50～70％。每煉一吨粗銅(矿石品位5％)需白煤15吨左右,比用焦炭量只高2.5吨,破除了不能用白煤煉銅的迷信,而为解决生产大跃进的燃料供应問題創造了一个有利条件。 (一)白煤的特性: 白煤和焦煤比較,具有以下不同的特性: 1.白煤的組织結構細密,气孔率低,燃燒速度
