Intersil recently announced it will shut down its production facility in Findlay, Ohio, in stages. The plant mainly produces automotive electronics and industrial integrated circuits. The company said the decision was part of its production strategy to gradually relinquish automotive electronics and industrial products and shift to manufacturing communications products. Greg Williams, Intersil’s CEO and President, said: “We accelerated the program due to less and less positive economic fundamentals and weaker demand for automotive electronics in recent months. Difficult, but when done, let’s focus on the fast-growing analog business. ”
