在欧州有许多热处理工厂,按其功能可分为综合性热处理厂和专业性热处理厂。在这些厂里,应用盐浴炉加热淬火,已有约五十年的历史。目前,随着生产批量的增大以及零件所需精度的提高,进一步改进热处理设备,已成为当务之急。此时首先应考虑劳力和工资成本的不断增加,同时也应考虑环境保护。因此最先采用了保护气氛热处理,后来又发展了真空热处理。
