Western sinologists have the language and aesthetic advantages of translating Chinese literary works into Chinese-speaking countries. Their translations are often more popular with readers than the translations of Chinese translators. However, over-emphasis on “readability ” or “smoothness ” by western sinologists often leads to deviation and damage of original meaning. This paper takes the example of the True Story of Ah Q and the Complete Other Chinese Stories - A Complete Works of Lu Xun, translated by British Sinologist Lan Shi-ling, and discusses the significance behind the readability of the novels written by Lu Xun and Lan Yu from two aspects: the theme and the cultural significance Deviation, in order to explain the use of naturalization strategy produced by the “transparent” translation often appear primitive language loss. However, at the same time, the author also thinks that the difference in cultural background between sinologists and Chinese translators makes them different from Chinese translators in interpreting the original texts, which enriches the meaning and connotation of the original works.
