1990年7月间,军委一位陪同江总书记在西藏视察的领导同志,问起当时任拉萨市副市长的孔繁森在西藏工作有什么困难时,他笑着说:“西藏人好地好,我爱上了这个地方。党派我到这里,我一定干好。再大的困难也能克服。活着干,死了算!”到了1994年7月,孔繁森作为阿里地委书记进京参加中央第三次西藏工作会议,这位军委领导同志望着他那消瘦的面容,嘱咐他多保重身体,孔繁森还是笑着说:“我是西藏人了,为了西藏的发展,活着干,死了算!”
