Ten years ago, there were fewer and more scattered cochlear implant centers in Asia and the Pacific, and most of the surgeries were performed under otology [1]. Subsequently, the development of cochlear implantation technology has sprung up and evolved into a multi-disciplinary field of professional collaboration. For the best clinical outcomes, many otologists, speech and audiologists, educators and engineers are involved in this technique. Although early studies of the effectiveness of cochlear implants have been conducted in Western countries, the majority of the world’s population, as well as hearing-impaired populations, is in the East. Therefore, the conclusions of the western research may not be entirely applicable to the Eastern countries.
