OBJECTIVE: To analyze the influence of demand side on neonatal screening and its impact on neonatal screening, and to further explore various factors that may potentially promote and hinder newborn screening of PKU and CH. Methods: A questionnaire survey was performed on 75 pregnant women in four delivery institutions in Shanghai. Results: 80.6% of pregnant women surveyed had heard of neonatal disease screening, 86.6% thought it was necessary to screen newborn disease, and 95.5% of pregnant women agreed to give their children newborn disease screening. Multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that: Parents’ age, occupation, educational level, family monthly income and health insurance status are not the factors influencing their cognitive level and demand for neonatal screening. Conclusion: Demand side has a high acceptability for neonatal screening and economy is not a factor that affects parents’ cognition level and demand. In the screening work, we should correctly understand the problem of informed consent in neonatal screening , Education of screening providers and recipients should be strengthened to ensure the effective implementation of screening.
