袁运甫是新中国许多重大美术实践的亲历者和见证者。其艺术成就横跨彩墨、水粉、重彩、线描、壁画、环境设计等绘画及公共艺术领域,是我国艺术教育、公共艺术等方面的集大成者。其“大美术观”和丰厚的艺术成就使他成为当代中国艺术创作活动的主将之一。先后为北京饭店、北京首都国际机场、中华世纪坛、人民大会堂、国家大剧院贵宾厅等创作了大型壁画。1981年,袁运甫首开先河,孤身到美国纽约举办了具有破冰意义的艺术个展,并在美国威尼康星大学、哈佛大学演讲介绍中国艺术,成为中美艺术教育交流计划的促成人和先行者。这样的事迹如不是有心钩沉,袁运甫先生从不对外言说。对应袁运甫的资历和事功,他的艺术展览和出版不多。他以平和的心态,与艺术品市场保持着距离。长期以来,他把创作和创新伸向了未来,他思考的是与时俱进的美术,他坚定地宣示和维护着艺术的尊严。在中国文化和艺术面对纷纭复杂的价值体系的今天,袁运甫的艺术作品彰显了一代文人的精神气度。唯美的画面下,是悲天悯人的情怀,是自信、独立、高昂的气质。而只是正是这个时代的艺术主将的宝贵价值。
Yuan Yunfu is a witness and witness to many major fine arts practices in new China. With his peace of mind, he maintained his distance from the art market. For a long time, he has put creativity and innovation in the future. He is thinking of art that keeps pace with the times. He firmly declares and maintains the dignity of the arts. In the face of the complicated value system of Chinese culture and art today, Yuan Yunfu’s works of art demonstrate the demeanor of a generation of literati. Under the beautiful picture, it is a compassionate feeling of compassion, confidence, independence and high temperament. It is just the precious value of the masters of the arts of this age.
