分析了中美洲及北京地区不同时段、不同尺度区域的地震活动特征 ,试图揭示地震空间活动的层次特征 .结果表明 ,不管所研究区域的范围和总体地震活动水平如何 ,总可以把它分为几个地震活动水平分别为高、中、低的小区域 ;在把一个区域粗略划分成 4个小区域的情况下 ,地震活动性最高与最低小区域的地震数目比值约为 4~ 5 ;对于更小的区域 ,地震活动也都具有这种规律 ,表现出很好的层次性 ,并且这种层次性不依赖于时间和震级 .地质构造的空间层次性是产生地震空间分布层次性的可能原因
