Prestressed concrete will certainly play an important role in the development of energy in the United States and the world. Prestressed concrete was developed in Europe before the Second World War. But this widely used building material soon entered North America in the 1950s and has since grown into a billion-dollar enterprise. Prestressed concrete is considered to be one of the four modern building materials, along with wood, steel, and reinforced concrete. Its application in housing and bridges is the pioneering initiative of the Chinese business community. With the application of prestressed concrete in house building, it can be said that the United States is in a leading position. However, Europe still leads in the construction of prestressed bridges. For example, in Britain and Germany, 60 percent of all bridges currently constructed are prestressed concrete. The same is true of our state of California, but the rest of the United States is lagging behind in this regard. President Carter’s energy plan is focused on reducing energy consumption. However, energy production still needs attention. This is the area where prestressed concrete can fully play its important role. From the main performance point of view, prestressed concrete for energy production and storage are very appropriate. Concrete does not burn, is not conductive, high temperature, low temperature resistance; prestressed steel provides great tension to preload the concrete, so that it can withstand a lot of pressure inside the tank; cable anchor in the concrete structure has been improved And has been standardized.
