王文兵在《马克思主义与现实》2010年第6期撰文认为:从实质上说,我们之所以要提出并解决毛泽东思想与中国特色社会主义理论体系的关系问题,就是为了保持和更新中国化马克思主义的自我认同,从而保持和更新社会主义中国的国家认同、中国社会主义发展道路的自我认同、社会主义理想的自我认同、中国现代社会变革的历史认同,中华民族复兴理想的自我认同。因为上述一系列自我认同的理论基础就是中国化马克思主义的自我认同。既要保持社会主义理想、原则、旗帜和道路的自我认同,同时又要随时赋予其不断变动的时代内容。这是把握毛泽东思想与中国特色
