Tales are legion of the countless foreign expatriates in Beijing and China generally who have made considerable contributions to the country’s economic and other developments over the past two decades especially. Many of these caring men and women have been thanked by officialdom by way of honorary acknowledgements,including the prestigious Great Wall Friendship Award.However, many deserving recipients“slip through the net”,usually because they are not brought to the notice of the authorities,or because-for their own reasons -they prefer to keep a modest low profile.
