台湾在 经济发展中 一直强调“自 力更生”,依 靠内部的积累扩大投资与发展经济,长期保持高储蓄率;历年来较少举借外债,目前外债只有约1亿美元;对外资依赖不大,外国直接投资也仅占台湾岛内投资总额的3.3％。这就使台湾保持了较为健康的经济体质,在金融风暴发生时不会因外债压力或外资撤退而冲击金融市场。
Taiwan has always emphasized “self-reliance” in its economic development, relying on its internal accumulation to expand investment and develop its economy and maintain a long-term high savings rate. In recent years, Taiwan has borrowed less foreign debt and currently owns only about 100 million U.S. dollars in foreign debt. Direct investment also accounts for only 3.3% of the total investment in Taiwan. This has enabled Taiwan to maintain a healthier economy and will not hit the financial markets due to the pressure of foreign debt or the retreat of foreign investment during the financial turmoil.
