“彩色竹圈”是陈鹤琴先生创作的一种积竹玩具。我国南方竹子多,价格便宜。陈老亲自设计制作了一套“彩色竹圈”,并在江西幼师附幼和南京鼓楼幼儿园进行实验。实验结果,他认为,“竹圈”可以作积木玩,在教育上的价值也与积木一样,可以启发儿童的思维,发展儿童的想象力和创造力,可以锻炼儿童的意志、陶冶儿童性情。现将“彩色竹圈”的制作、保存和玩法简单介绍如下。制作方法:先把粗竹子外面的青皮用刀刮光,以一寸二分长一圈一圈地锯下来,再把竹圈两头刨光。然后再把十分之一的竹圈每个锯成两个半圆形,把十分之一的竹圈每个锯成四个弧形(即全箱竹圈二百个,内二十个锯成半圆形,二十个锯成四分之一的圆弧形),最后用红、绿等色的瓷漆漆过(用油漆也可),以防止裂开。
