当今世界信息产业发展迅速,需要传递的信息量也与日俱增。长距离大容量的光纤通信系统都采用石英单模光纤作为传输介质,但是过去短距离的通信系统其传输介质大多采用传统的同轴电缆和对绞线,这使得“最后一公里”往往成为通信系统的瓶颈。“光进铜退”已成为业界的共识,在光信息传输中,除了石英单模光纤外,在可见和近红外(1.3mm和1.55mm)波段低损耗塑料光纤(POF)及塑料光纤通信系统是光通信领域新的有竞争力的研究方向。2008年7月28日全国第四届塑料光纤、聚合物光子学会议在燕山大学召开,借此机会我们采访了燕山大学特种光纤与光纤传感实验室,并围绕塑料光纤和聚合物光子学的“产、学、研”问题对该实验室于荣金教授进行了专访。在关注最新研发技术的同时,我们也对塑料光纤“产业化”面临的问题进行了深入探讨。据了解,目前国内并未有优秀的有实力的企业来投资新型空芯布拉格塑料光纤的生产,国内生产企业还处于国际原有技术路线束缚和仿制状态。为此,编辑希望能够借助此次报道引起社会各界对该领域的关注,共同努力振兴我国民族工业。
