林晓若出生在书香门第,爷爷是一位小有名气的书画家,父母都接受过高等教育。成长在这样书卷飘香的家里,受浓厚的文化氛围的熏陶,林晓若从小不但勤奋好学,而且兴趣广泛。四五岁时,他不仅对认字、识数、背古诗特感兴趣,就连歌舞、戏曲也都有所涉猎。在爷爷的指导下,林晓若还练就了一样绝活——剪纸,尤其是剪侧面人像。不论谁侧坐在他面前,不到两分钟,他就能为那个人剪出一张惟妙惟肖的半身侧面剪影。
