In order to attract more talented people, the Hong Kong government has maintained its stability in the civil service and prevented it being “dug into the corner”, setting a very generous wage and insurance package. Higher education, higher wages, higher positions, the higher the insurance benefits, known as the “gilded iron rice bowl.” This makes civil servants the only class in Hong Kong enjoying a full range of social security. Only excerpts from the information in the insurance benefits section. I. Retirement treatment The normal retirement age is 60 years; the District Court judge appointed after January 1, 1987 is 65 years old. Retirement benefits vary from pensions to non-pension civil servants. 1. Pensions civil servants. Service for more than 10 years, over the age of 60, can retire. Working longer, the higher the pension, up to 2/3 of the annual salary.
