避孕是关系到男女双方的问题,生殖有三个过程,(1)精子形成过程。(2)成熟卵子的排卵过程。(3)受精卵着床过程。抑制其中任何一个过程是口服避孕药物的主要任务。 (Ⅰ)精子形成的抑制在抑制精子形成方面,曾有加拿大盖鲁尔博士以菜子油或同种植物之种子油(成分Erucic Acid)给雄性大白鼠口服,发现引起生殖能力的降低——并认为是食饵中必须的脂肪酸的利用受到了阻碍的结果——对于人是否有效不得而知,其后亦无此方面的报告。
