张培基等编的《英汉翻译教程》是教育部委托中国人民解放军洛阳外国语学院为我国高等院校英语专业编写的通用翻译教材。本书分章节介绍了英译汉的一系列常用方法和技巧,除每章每节后配有单句练习外,书后还附有三十六篇英语短文及参考译文,其中有不少佳译,可供教师和学生学习,借鉴;但也有些译文仍值得商榷。在使用这本教材时,我们不揣浅陋,试作了一些改译,现将这些句子归纳分类如下,以求教于其他从事翻译教学的老师们。原译文的毛病主要可分以下三类:
