The rice area extends from 49 ° N to 35 ° N, covering a wide range of climatic and soil conditions. From the perspective of ecology, the wide adaptability of a rice variety should be based on its high yield under various climatic conditions. For example, the dormancy of grain is needed for widespread adaptation in the tropics but not necessary for high yield of grain. On the other hand, the resistance of pests to pests and diseases is both a requirement of broad adaptability and high productivity. The climatic factors that affect the adaptability of rice varieties are temperature, daily growth, precipitation and solar radiation.
