Childhood obesity is gradually becoming a global epidemic, with the attendant dramatic increase in various metabolic diseases. The main reason for childhood obesity seems to be excessive energy intake, resulting in obesity making children unwilling to exercise, rather than lack of exercise caused by obesity. At present, there is a lack of sufficient knowledge of the effects of changes in body composition accompanying obesity on physical activity and its mechanical basis. This article outlines the physical exercise habits and body composition of obese children and maintains that skeletal muscle metabolism is the main driver of physical activity. Skeletal muscle mass changes and qualitative changes in obese children, the role of oxidative metabolism to be discussed. It is imperative to study the mechanistic basis of obesity in people who lack exercise. There is still a lack of information on skeletal muscle metabolism in obese young people during exercise. At the same time, new technologies are constantly emerging, which provide ample room for future research.
