The history of No. 83 Middle School in Xi’an dates back to the establishment of Nanyang Public School in Shanghai in 1896. In 1908, Nanyang Public School changed its name to Jiaotong University. In 1956, Jiaotong University moved from Shanghai to Xi’an. In 1957, Jiaotong University planned to build a secondary school (the predecessor of No. 83 Middle School in Xi’an). In 1982, the school was identified as one of the “Ten Key High Schools for the First Batch in Shaanxi Province”.
