Interoptics has developed an MMS-3 field-mountable single-mode connector that consumes less than 1 dB and does not require epoxy or index matching fluids. It has a tungsten carbide sleeve, can dial dial 100000 times without significant performance degradation. A lockable swivel ensures optimum core-to-core alignment. The connector is designed for on-line termination of single-mode fiber with a cladding diameter of 125 μm with a tungsten carbide sleeve and centering sleeve with a diameter tolerance
