G protein activation The inward rectifier potassium channel (GIRK) is one of the seven members of the inward rectifier potassium channel superfamily. It is the only ion channel that is currently found to interact directly with the beta subunit of the G protein. GIRK widely distributed in the central nervous system, with the maintenance of neuronal resting membrane potential, regulate neuronal excitability and neurotransmitter release an important role. Weaver mice with GIRK2 channel abnormalities and GIRK2 knockout mice have seizures, and Weaver mice also exhibit neurodevelopmental abnormalities, so further investigation of the physiological and pathological significance of GIRK in the central nervous system will help reveal The pathogenesis of some neurological diseases
