The contents of Ca ~ (2 +) and Mg ~ (2+) in serum of 10 cases of primary epileptic children without anti-epilepsy were measured by atomic absorption spectrophotometry. By animal experiments, 2 +) and Mg 2+ concentration on epileptiform discharge induced by penicillin. The results showed that the content of Ca2 + in serum of children with epilepsy was significantly lower than that of the control group (P <0.01), while the content of Mg2 + in the two groups had no significant difference (P> 0.05) Calcium concentration, can prolong the incubation period of penicillin-induced epilepsy, inhibit the frequency and amplitude of epileptic seizures, while no significant changes in serum magnesium concentration. The result of animal experiment proves that the determination result of low Ca2 + content in children with epilepsy is reasonable. When the content of Ca2 + in blood decreases, the excitability of neuromuscular is increased, which can induce epileptiform Discharge or seizures.
