目前井工开采煤炭的方法,基本上可归纳为两大类:长壁开采和短壁开采.美国、澳大利亚和南非等国,因地制宜地大量应用着短壁开采,并使之成为主要的采煤方法(表1).近30多年,经过不断改进、完善而形成的一套以连续采煤机为中心的短壁采煤设备体系,在美、澳及南非等国得到广泛应用,取得较好的经济效益(表2).
