榕属植物在中国有120种,福建省约有25种原生种。素有榕城之称的福州市,各种榕树中以白棕为主(Ficus micvocarpa),并为培养盆栽的主要对象。从盆栽角度来看,虽然性能优异,多因叶片大、节间长而影响观赏效果。现在多采用摘叶、控水肥、喷药以及将小叶品种嫁接在白榕上等方法来呈现小叶景象。但从长期生长来看都不理想,常出现叶子逐渐变大或生长不健康等
