水上居民,旧社会被歧称为“疍民”,广州称“疍家”,主要从事水上运输和捕渔,以船或艇为家,是被歧视、被侮辱的一个社会群体。 上了年纪的人或许还记得解放初广州水上居民生活的情景。他们以船为家,四处漂泊,终年劳累。珠江上的一些水势平缓的地方和较为平坦的河滩就是他们临时聚居的场所,在河滩上搭起一个简易的木棚,就是这些水上居民的最高享受了。“世世舟为宅,年年竹作簰,浮沉波浪里,生活晦无涯”是解放前水上居民的真实写
