《牡丹亭》描写了一对青年男女梦中相会、因情而死、死而复生的爱情故事。这部戏剧设置了奇幻的环境,打破生死、人鬼的时空界限,运用隐喻、象征、预言等多种具有现代气息的艺术表现手法,为现实蒙上了一层魔幻的外衣。该剧的完成比拉丁美洲的魔幻现实主义文学早了三百多年,但其情节构思的奇妙,艺术表现手法的奇幻,已显示出与魔幻现实主义文学的共通之处。
“Peony Pavilion” depicts a love story of a young man and woman meeting in a dream, died of love and death. This drama sets a fantasy environment, breaking the boundaries between life and death, human and ghost, and using modern artistic expressions such as metaphors, symbols and prophecies to cast a magical coat on the reality. The play was completed more than three hundred years earlier than the Latin American magical realism literature. However, its marvelous plot concept and the fantasy of artistic expression have shown its commonplace with the magical realism literature.
