In June 2011, Beijing became the 17th pilot city for public hospital reform in China. In May 2012, the “Beijing Public Hospital Reform Pilot Program” was introduced, marking the official launch of the reform pilot project of public hospitals in Beijing. Beijing’s high-quality medical resources are concentrated. Twenty-three municipal tertiary hospitals have assumed the medical needs of residents in Beijing and the whole country. The reform of public hospitals in Beijing has a broader impact and is more difficult to reform.
