The UK’s International Nuclear Project website, April 28, 2014 The integrated inherent safety light water reactor (12S-LWR) is a 1000 MWe PWR concept with an integrated primary loop configuration. The concept combines a high-power (good economy) with an all-in-one design (with good safety) by “squeezing” a 1,000 MWe reactor into a size-able pressure vessel. The concept of an integrated inherent safety light water reactor was proposed in response to the DOE theme of an inherently safe light water reactor called for the NEUP Integrated Research Project (IRP).
