An Inspector Calls is a three-part play written by the British writer John Boynton Priestley (1894-) in 1947. After the Second World War, the massive British Empire began to disintegrate. The domestic economic recession in Britain led to a sharp class contradiction and a high advocate of social reform. Under such circumstances, the “House of Sin” caused a strong reaction as soon as it came out. Until today it is a favorite show in the UK and many other countries. The play, citing the death of a woman worker, depicts the images of the capitalist Burling and his family, the police chief, and a woman who has not appeared. Inspector Gordon pressed for a closer investigation to prove that everyone in the Burlingley family was responsible for the death of the female worker. In the plot is compact, logical clear at the same time, the author also deliberately painted the mysterious and confusing color of the show. The detective, who held the responsibility of the dead, a ghostlike character, was abducted by the Burlingame family as if it were the embodiment of several people. In the end, it seems that there is no such thing as a female worker committing suicide. And when Burling to celebrate “scam ” was exposed, the script at the end repeat the plot at the beginning, everything is true. In this way, after the author, interweaving the mysterious symbol and some incomprehensible signs with the real life, the audience realized that whether the Burlingame really forced the female worker or not, the bourgeoisie as a whole could not escape Workers fall into desperate responsibility. In the face of this tragic fact, the Bertels are concerned only with the impact of the incident on their social status, while their children are willing to bear the moral responsibility of forcing the dead, which shows that the author holds the hope of the younger generation of the bourgeoisie and reflects The author’s reformist thinking. The translation of “House of Sin” should be “visiting inspector.” The script was adapted into a movie, the film was well received when released in China.
