1979年,邓小平访问美国,与当时美国总统卡特签订了《中美联合公报》,翻开了中美外交新篇章。为纪念中美建交35周年,以中国美协分党组副书记、秘书长徐里为团长,与中国美术馆副馆长马书林、中国文联美术艺术中心大型活动部副主任杜松儒、中国美协外联部卢新征组成中国美协代表团,赴美出席“走进卡特中心——纪念中美建交35周年当代中国画精品展”开幕式及文化交流活动。
In 1979, Deng Xiaoping visited the United States and signed the “Sino-U.S. Joint Communique” with then U.S. President Carter, opening a new chapter in the diplomatic relations between China and the United States. In commemoration of the 35th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and the United States, he led the delegation headed by Xu Li, deputy party secretary and secretary general of the Chinese American Artists Association, to the deputy director of the China Art Museum, Mr. Mu Shulin, deputy director of the large-scale activities department of China Federation of Literary and Art Center, Lu Xinzheng of the United Nations formed a delegation of China Artists Association and went to the United States to attend the opening ceremony and cultural exchange activities of “going to the Carter Center - Commemoration of the Exhibition of Contemporary Chinese Painting at the 35th Anniversary of the Establishment of Diplomatic Relations between China and the United States.”
