文章认为，国际经济合作无论在过去、现在还是将来都是世界经济的主流：（１）国际经济相互依赖和生产要素的国际移动在战后都产生了新的发展，成为不可逆转的大趋势，这构成了国际经济合作的坚实基础；（２）当前时代的特点和发展的方向，也符合国际经济合作的原则和性质；（３）国际经济合作的内容不断拓展，尤其是国际投资合作的发展，以及近年来兴起的国际信息合作，表明国际经济合作正在得到进一步加强并且发展极为迅速；（４）不同类型国家之间的合作也在不断加强，并将在未来的２１世纪取得更大的突破性进展
