棉花选种成为群众运动是解放以后的事情,这是植棉史上最光荣的一页,不是旧社会棉作人员所梦想得到的,棉花选种不再是「纸上谈兵」,也不再是棉作人员独占的技术了。农民因为要增加棉花生产,需要优良棉种,纺织工人因为要提高产品质料,需要好的棉花,一般人民因为需要各种美观耐用的棉纺织品,都要求棉花选种,所以棉花选种不再祇是棉作人员的要求,而是广大群众的要求了。
