“文化”与“文明”两词无论从含义还是使用功能上看,都是既有区别又有联系的一对范畴。文明侧重于从集合、总体角度反映所表征对象,文化则从分化、差别、多样性意义上反映所表征对象。人类文明在不同背景不同条件下分化、进化,衍生出许多不同类型、不同形式的文明及其多样性成果,这个人类文明的分化过程及其所产生的多样性成果被人们用“文化”标志,就是文化与文明范畴及其关系的本质。
