白涛(1915-1948.7.7),原名袁怀义,字炯涛,又名袁仪。西峡县丹水乡袁沟村人。地主出身。幼年在村中读私塾,聪慧勤奋,刻苦好学,成绩优异。 1932年春,他随叔父到开封博爱中学读书月余,后又转北平精业中学就读。与当时住北平从事党的地下工作的共青团北平市东城区委组织部部长张明河是亲戚加老乡,于是常到张明河处聚谈,开始接受进步思想。同年11月,鲁迅由上海到北平讲学,白涛等人跑到北平师范大学聆听过鲁迅的讲话,深受教益。
