In the process of learning English, English majors also encounter the problem of “bottleneck”. Faced with the interweaving of communicative English and academic English, they often fall into the predicament of learning and do not know the focus and direction of study. The purpose of this article is to help them identify the root causes of the problem and to smoothly cross the trough. I used a qualitative research method to interview two students, one male and one female, majoring in English majors in college. The interviewers recorded the interview in MP3 format. They learned about the respondents’ past experience of English learning and their English learning ability. Based on the analysis of the interviews with the materials and data, we conclude that personal learning of English, teachers’ guidance, education system and objective age are the bottleneck they “s reason. English graduate students have to adjust their own learning attitude but also instruct mentors and others to consult, across the negative impact of age. The most important thing is to strengthen self-innovation learning, learning ”true " language.
