The image on our cover comes courtesy of Birdhead-a screen shot from the TV-series adaptation of Journey to the West. Here, we see the Monkey King wielding his Golden-bound Cudgel and pacing about in the palm of the Buddha＇s hand. In the novel, this 8,100-kilogram cudgel is normally hidden in Sun Wukong＇s ear, as a tiny sewing needle that in the face of the enemy can turn into an incomparably lethal weapon.
