Press Briefing According to the Associated Press, descendants of slaves filed claims for US$1 billion in compensation against U.S. and British companies, accusing them of profiting from their ancestors through genocide. The lawyers representing eight plaintiffs used DNA technology for the first time to link plaintiffs with Africans suffering from slave trade in this prosecution. They sued Lloyd of the United Kingdom and Fleetb of the United States in federal court in Manhattan.
