[美国《农场化学品》1976年139卷10期62页报导]花生由于结果习性独特,要求与其他作物完全不同的施肥方式。花生荚果在地下发育,荚果的发育所需的钙不是由植株吸收供应的,而是通过果针或荚果的茸毛来摄取。美国东南部花生产区的轻质沙攘土,其PH值为5.8—6.2,适宜种植花生。这类土壤虽然持水量有限,有机质含量低和交换量低,但若在生长期中精心管理并保持足够水分,仍能获得高产和饱满的花生仁,而施肥则是决定最终产量的一个重要因素。

Peanut pod develops underground and the calcium required for the development of the pod is not taken up by the plants but is taken up through the hairs of the needles or pods. Although this type of soil has limited water holding, low levels of organic matter and low exchange rates, it is still possible to obtain high yield and full peanuts if carefully managed and maintained in the growing season, and fertilization is an important factor in determining the final yield .
