The shift in the treatment of outpatients has led to a new product in the hospital: hotels. Alan Heller, MD, said: “Reducing the number of hospital admissions and shortening the length of hospitalization of patients is a pressure on the U.S. healthcare system.” He also said that the majority of patients are fully eligible for outpatient treatment in the last two or three days of hospitalization.
