由于越南早期历史中近千年为中国的藩属国,因而我们常常以为它是一个受儒家文化影响的封建的、内陆的、农耕的国家,忽视这里同时也是一个开放的、海洋的、商业的地区,尤其是17~19世纪随着清代移民的大量涌入以及越南领土不断南扩,越南人的冒险精神和海洋意识不断增强。《鸿庞氏传》、《越井传》、《金龟传》以及《西瓜传》等有关海洋主题的古代民间传说很早就出现在越南文史典籍之中;古往今来,相关故事在越南民众心中
