藏族英雄史诗《格萨尔》,除有众多手抄本在民间流传外,尚有许多民间说唱艺人以口头说唱的方式加以流传。以说唱《格萨尔》著称或以说唱《格萨尔》为职业的民间说唱艺人,藏语称其为“仲肯”。“仲”,是指富有幻想、传奇色彩的故事;“肯”,是指说唱这种故事的人或专门家。有的地方也将“仲肯”称为“仲巴”。“巴”,亦即人或者的意思。被人公认为“仲肯”的民间说唱艺人,对于《格萨尔》史诗,有的能唱三四十部,以中等篇幅计,多达三四十万诗行;少的也能唱几部或若干唱段,一般也在几千至几万诗行。艺人们何以能唱如此浩瀚的篇幅呢?艺人们通常的回答是:“‘神
