In the first quarter of 2003, with a total deficit of 1.02 billion U.S. dollars in foreign trade, the textile industry witnessed spectacular growth with a trade surplus of 11.8 billion U.S. dollars, an increase of 24.83% over the same period of last year (Table 1).
