The preparation and characterization of 5-fluorouracil/ethylene-vinyl alcohol copolymer (5-Fu/E-VAL) matrix coated with various polymeric materials are reported. The coating materials studied here include ethylene-vinyl alcohol copolymer (EVAL) , cellulose acetate (CA) , poly-2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate (PHEMA) and poly-methyl methacrylate (PMMA) with different diffusivities and thicknesses. To validate the proposed model equations, these coated systems were investigated experimentally and quantitatively. The results show a good correlation between theoretical predictions and experimental data.
